Possibilities and fiction

| | Comments (0)

A good way to distinguish science-fiction from fantasy: the first makes the improbable possible, the second makes the impossible probable. Improbability is an epistemological category, based on a perception of facts and an understanding of theories. Impossibility is a metaphysical obstacle, claiming it is probable requires a rejection of both fact and theory.

The flashbacks would be easier to deal with, if I could believe that you experience them too.

But I don't. Believe.

So, what's left? Ah, do you remember seeing that movie, too? and the ensuing arguments about what it actually meant to us? That was when arguments were precursors of physical exertion. The motto of the Pakistan Army reads: Iman, Taqwa, Jihad fi Sabilillah.

Translated into English, it means Faith, Fear of Allah, Jihad in the way of Allah. Meaning that their central purpose is to impose submission to Islam. A practical application was the development of the Taliban to take over Afghanistan.
